Mr. Thompson turns 23!

Finally! Now we are both 23 and when someone asks how old we are they won't notice right away that I'm the older one :)

I love to celebrate. I will celebrate anything really, if it gives me a theme and an excuse to throw a party or have a few people over.

This year, Eric's birthday really stumped me. I was racking my brain all week on what to do for Eric's Bday that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. In the past, I have spoiled him so much I was afraid he would be disappointed this year. His birthday fell on a Friday, which would normally be great, but due to Eric's work schedule and other prior obligations pending for that day, I only had a few hours to spend with him. We had originally planned on doing his birthday dinner on Sunday, but I just couldn't let the actual day go by without some type of Birthday-ness.  I had finally come up with a plan, but I couldn't put the plan in action until after he was gone, and he wouldn't be recieving this birthday surprise until he got home, so at a last minute lame attempt, I suggested we go get Birthday Sundaes before he went to work. So poor Eric probably went to work thinking that this was how it was going to be from now on -now that we were married and had a kid, I just didn't have time to celebrate his bday...

Muahaha. Well, we fooled him!

A 23rd Birthday Love Note Trail

Each heart has a reason why we love Eric :)

Mr. Thompson loves a German Chocolate Cake and Reese's are our fave candy :)

It was great to be woken up by a happy husband who really appreciated my efforts.

Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails...

I can't believe I forgot to blog about this.

Baby Thompson # 2

IS A BOY!

Again :)

I was so worried that I'd be having another boy because I didn't have a name for it. We have long ago picked out the name 'Olivia' for our (hopefully) future daughter, but once we had finally agreed on Tristan, I just fell in love with the name. I couldn't have loved it more. I thought I wouldn't ever find a name I loved as much for a boy.

When I found out I was pregnant again, I just knew it was a girl.
My main theories were:
a. Nausea but no vomitting (with Tristan, I spent the first 20 weeks throwing up everything I ate)
b. I didn't have any boy names left, so it had to be a girl.
c. Chinese prediction calendar.

There has been a very popular myth in Eric's family that has held true, and I chose to not accept this myth. Wish I would have!

The myth is that your hairline predicts what your younger sibling is. It works for the 5 kids in The Thompson family, and it works for me. (My hairline--in the back--is a "W" shape, and I have a little brother. Hairlines that are straight across indicate that you have a little sister)

The day that Tristan was born, I flipped him around and I looked at his hairline-- STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW! I had quickly told Eric I was recalling my statement from an hour ago (during my labor) and that we could indeed have more children. And then when Tristan was about 8 weeks old, I started to notice that his hairline was not straight. I asked everyone what they thought and they all agreed his hairline was not straight. I chose to ignore it and believed that I was having a girl. So you can imagine my surprise when the technician said "Okay, are you ready? See these are the legs...and this is not a leg." There was no doubt about it. There is a little boy inside of me!

After the ultrasound, we had about an hour to kill before my next appointment so we grabbed some lunch and started our name debate. It lasted about 20 minutes before we realized that we had already decided on the name a couple weeks ago. We decided that we would stick with our guts.

Ryan Joseph Thompson is expected to be here on September 13, 2011.

(Fun fact: Ryan means Little King!)

I must say, I thought I'd be so disappointed but I am not. I am thrilled! We have been having a particularly rough patch financially lately and feel that this may be a blessing in disguise. It will be so great to have two boys that are so close in age, and the only thing we'll really need to purchase is a toddler bed for Tristan! We already have everything we need. Of course, Ryan will need his own blankie because Tristan will certainly not be sharing that (he won't even let me cuddle with it) but otherwise, we are set! Which is great, because it has helped me to manage my stress a lot more this time around.

Mother's Day Surprise!

Ohmigosh, I have been slacking so so much on my blogging updates.

Times have been a little tough on the Thompson family this past week, but we are keeping our heads up and still trying to enjoy our days!

Mother's Day was wonderful :) My boys (FINALLY!!) got me a "Preggle pillow"- I have been wanting this since 2nd trimester with Tristan and my dreams have finally come true. Seriously though, such a great gift! This time around, I am much bigger and night time has been a lot more difficult.  I complain so much, Eric gave me the pillow at 12:05am on Sunday so he could finally use his pillow again.

My OTHER surprise was not revealed until the following morning. After sacrament meeting we snuck away to attend Tristan's very FIRST Mariner's game! It was the most beautiful day to watch a baseball game. Of course, it was dark and cloudy at our house so I packed sweatshirts and blankets, only to get to the field and get a sunburn!

We got amazing seats! We were right above the scoreboard in left field. The scoreboard lady was nice enough to let us borrow the ONE :)

Tristan loved every minute of the game. He made some new friends with the people sitting next to us, and danced to all the music, and even got on television!

By the 9th inning, he was fading fast, and I had a sleeping baby on my hands (so rare, he almost never falls asleep any place other than his crib and the car)

And of course, the best part! They were giving out free Mariner's earrings to all the Mom's :)

All in all, it was a great day. I got to spend the day with my boys, and I even got to take a nap and I didn't have to change any diapers! It was a pretty good deal.

Hope all the other Mama's out there had a great day too!

Our first family Easter!

The celebrating never ends!

Following Tristan's sugar coma nap, we had what felt like a 2nd party!

Eric's brother- who lives in Olympia with his wife and son (8 months older than Tristan) were in town and came over to see the Birthday boy and so did Dad and Connie! (and Kendra!)

It was an enjoyable but chaotic evening of BBQ and babies. Kendra and Hailey (our 2 flower girls) were reunited and very excited to play with each other, and all the kids were running around playing/fighting over all of the toys. It reminded me of what it must have felt like for Dad and Connie during Christmas when we were all younger. It was the 1st time ever, that we have had all of the cousins on Eric's side since Alaina's arrival in the same place at the same time. We tried to get a normal picture to send to Papa but I guess these are the best we got:

I was truly impressed with how well Tristan handled his guests. He was lovin' all the attention! I felt like I didn't even get to see my little birthday boy!

Needless to say, I slept like a baby that night!

We survived! But more importantly, so did Tristan

Welp. I have a 1 year old.

His party went great! So glad we were able to share with so many friends and family. AND to top it off, it was the FIRST day of the year that got higher than 60!! The weather was AMAZING! I couldn't have been happier.

Little Man's Cookie Monster cupcakes!
Our Cookies & Milk table

AWESOME Gift! So excited to test this out this summer!

Opening up new presents!

First Candle!

And with no hesitation whatsoever...our little One year old dug into his very first cake.

He would have eaten the whole thing had we let him...

Towards the end, I thought he might actually throw up so we cut him off, immediately took him to the tub to be hosed off and put him down for his nap. Even with all those people in our house, he was ready!

It was a great day that I will never forget! Thank you to everyone who came and to everyone who has been apart of our lives this last year! We could not be more thankful for all of you :)

Helping the Easter bunny with his tasks!

On Tuesday, JayC and her kids came over for some Easter egg coloring fun.

While we hardboiled the eggs, we forced the older kids to play outside-- yes, we had to force them. Whenever it's nice outside, I make Hailey draw on my driveway with sidewalk chalk. I love the look of sidewalk chalk. It brightens my day. I just hate to touch chalk, so I make little kids do it for me :) So Hailey comes in and I ask her what she drew and she tells me ' I wrote I LOVE TRISTAN AND ERIC'-- so i say 'WHAT ABOUT ME?!' and she says 'Oh! I forgot!' LOL.

Tristan was down for a nap during all the festivities, but that's okay. I made one for him this year. Next year he can color his own eggs!

Hope you all enjoy your Easter! We are going to have such a busy weekend celebrating Tristan's Birthday and Easter, and also remembering his Grandma Harmony. I'm excited to see what the weekend holds and ready for some action! -- let's just skip Thursday and Friday and get to it! Okay fine, I just really want some good food :)
