Better late than never?!

OHMIGOSH. This is the worst. I totally forgot to post about our SUPER IMPORTANT VALENTINES that we sent to OUR MOST FAVORITEST PEOPLE EVER.

[Nat & Hannah]

Tristan & Ryan have HANDS DOWN the best 2 babysitters any parents could ask for.
It's not every day that you have people asking begging to babysit for you. In fact, I rarely get babysitters (besides Eric's sisters...eeeeek sorry!) because I always feel guilty asking people.

Ps. Met these girls through the gym, first when I brought the boys in as a member and then as coworkers (still brought my kids in like everyday). They're pretty much the best. They always made me feel like my kids were special :)

We were lucky to have these girls all summer until they went off to college, but we still get them sometimes when they come to visit on weekends and breaks...but we miss them SO MUCH WE WISH THEY WOULDN'T GO TO SCHOOL. Hehe, just kidding. Get those educations.

Anyway, I saw these super cute Valentine's on Pinterest and knew instantly who was going to get these "Long Distance Hugs" from us.

Tristan was really excited about the finish product. He actually helped me and loved getting his hand traced. I traced each boys hand and cut the ribbon to their armspan so when the girls get lonely, they can get an accurate hug :) I asked each boy to pick who he wanted to be their Valentine.

Ryan chose Hannah and Tristan chose Natalie.

[Juuuust Kidding. I chose for them. hahaha]

You know who else even helped? That's right. Mr. Thompson was a big helper and my  mailman. He is always so great about helping me with my projects. I said "GLUE!" and he glued. Did a pretty good job, I might add.

These were so easy, and basically free. If I had ribbon laying around it would have been. I made Eric go get me some from the dollar tree. So all in all, took me one day and $1.

Happy belated Valentines Day!
xoxo

The Housewife Life

My boss has been out of town so I've been covering her 9-5's for a few days. What a life, I tell ya. If I could work a M-F job with those hours, I don't care if you want me slangin pig's I'll do it.

The PROS:

  • You can be a little risque' and stay up a bit late and still get to semi-sleep in and not need to take a nap in the middle of the day...
  • Your husband can make you breakfast AND get your coffee started
  • Your kids can be watched by other people...
  • You can really feel like a normal person.

It's so great. Did I also mention that your kids can be watched by other people? (HOLY DAYCARE, I WANT YOU IN MY LIFE).

So... I cannot tell a lie. I loved it and all... it was a dream come true. Except, after 4 days I felt like I was really neglecting my Pinterest boards, and all of my quality facebook/twitter stalking.

I really really missed my computer.

Me, in my natural element.

I started to reminisce about the good ole' days of being a housewife, and I ached for it a tiny TINY bit. Like not enough for me to ever want to do it full time again..but just enough to want an entire day to play on my computer and pretend like I'm going to make sweet crafts and activities for my kids... and enough to want to make a list of all the things I do miss about being a "full time" stay-at-home mom.

1. Endless amounts of coffee. If my cup ran out... well, all I have to do is just stroll over to the kitchen and refill it. Slippers, robe and all.
2. Speaking of-- my slippers. I miss them.
3. Nobody tells me what to do. I'm in charge.
4. I can do anything I want, when I want. Because I'm the mom and I make the rules. If I don't want to go to story time...well then, we don't have to.
5. Sleeping in till 730am. Never thought I'd say that 730 was sleeping in...
6. Wardrobe freedom. I didn't have to shower unless I wanted to. And I didn't have to wash the same outfit over and over every day.
7. Friends! What are those? I was jk about this one ;)
8. Play dates. I'm going to tell you all a secret. They're not actually for the kids.
9. Shopping. I did a whole lot more shopping before I was too tired to even pick up milk on the way home.
10. Ok and last but not CERTAINLY NOT LEAST!... family time ;)

So there you have it. I don't really want to be a big kid. I just want to wear my pj's all day and call it good!

Playroom Ideas

I finally printed and framed our family photo- only 8 months later... but at least it got done before the kids graduated. My most recent addition to the playroom, and what inspired drastic makeover ASAP. I've just been letting this room sit, but once the photo went up... I decided we're getting this done.

This is the 2nd home I've had a bonus room in that I just can't figure out what to do with. The angles are weird, there's no door...it leads to the kitchen... it's kind of a bizarre place. And with kids, there's no point in trying to have a formal sitting area, so my first thoughts go to playroom. In the past, I've wanted it to be a "Bonus" room, meaning toys/tv/video games/big comfy couch. But with my goal of squashing tv addiction in mind, I've decided to ex that idea and create a playroom that inspires creativity, and leads the children away from the TV. I can't tell you how much I can't stand couch potatoes, and I refuse to let my boys become obsessed with video games.

We will have imaginations in my home, and we will play outside.

^ Family Rules.

If I chant it enough, it will happen... right?

To the right of the fireplace is a long wall where this will go:

^ Found on Etsy. Ordering this next weekend! Can't wait for it's glorious arrival on my doorstep.

^ Don't mind floating balloon. We buy dollar store balloons on occasion because they are hours of fun...this one was given to us at the last Relief Society Activity. It was still floating, a week later.

^ Crate bookshelves found
My next project.  This will go on the wall to the right of "couch" (that is non existent as of yet) so that we can create a comfy place to read and cuddle :)

^^ All of this will go in this area:
